Fourth seed David Ferrer wins at Australian Open

Melbourne:

Spanish fourth seed David Ferrer defeated Belgian Olivier Rochus 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the first round at the Australian Open on Monday.

Ferrer, a Melbourne semi-finalist two years ago, will play American Tim Smyczek in the second round.
