Jarmila Gajdosova hit back at her critics on Tuesday after she crashed out of the Australian Open at the first hurdle, extending her winless run at her home grand slam.
Gajdosova, ranked 39th, went down 4-6, 2-6 to Russia's Maria Kirilenko in her seventh consecutive first-round exit at the season's opening major, where she has never won a match.
"Whenever I play, everybody questions my game. Everybody keeps talking about my unforced errors. Everybody keeps talking about (how) hot and cold I am all the time," said the 24-year-old Australian.
"So how would you feel going on the court knowing the first thing they're gonna say is 'ah, you made 40 unforced errors, so that's why you lost'?"
Gajdosova was also emotional at this month's Hopman Cup, where she was in tears after a 6-0, 6-0 defeat to Marion Bartoli.
When asked how tough it was to be questioned about her playing style, the Australian said: "It's shocking. First thing everybody says how bad my game is. When you play well, 'oh, you're unbelievable'. Then you have a bad morning, 'you played real crap today'. You can't win no matter what I do."
She said by reaching a career high of 25 in the world "you would think I achieved something already. And still people question it every single day."
