American Joe Kovacs won the men's shot put at the world championships in Beijing on Sunday.

American Joe Kovacs won the men's shot put at the world championships in Beijing on Sunday.

Kovacs heaved a best of 21.93 metres to dash David Storl's bid for a hat-trick of world titles, the German claiming silver with 21.74 metres.

Jamaican O'Dayne Richards took bronze with 21.69 metres.
