Gatlin wins 100m title in Helsinki
USA's Justin Gatlin added the world 100 metres title to his Olympic crown with a dominant victory on the second day of the World Athletics Championships.

USA's Justin Gatlin added the world 100 metres title to his Olympic crown with a dominant victory on the second day of the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki on Sunday.
Gatlin won in a time of 9.88 seconds.
Another Olympic champion to secure world gold was Carolina Kluft. The Swede edged out France's Eunice Barber in the heptathlon.
In other events, Lithuania's Virgilijus Alekna retained his world discus title with his last throw of the competition, while Olimpiada Ivanova of Russia set the first world record of the championships early in the day in the women's 20-kilometre walk.
Her time of one hour, 25 minutes and 41 seconds was a massive 41 seconds faster than the old mark.
Trecia Smith of Jamaica won the triple jump with an effort of 15.11 metres. Silver went to Cuba's Yargelis Savigne and bronze to Anna Pyatykh of Russia. (AP)
