Leander Paes was just a 19-year-old youngster in September 1992 but the confidence was there for all to see as India beat Britain 4-1 in the David Cup tie at home. Leander beat Britain's number 1 Jeremy Bates in the singles and then partnered another Indian tennis great Ramesh Krishnan to win the doubles. He also reached the quarter-final of the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 with Krishnan.
