Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowski crashed out of the US Open mixed doubles event on Monday, after losing their quarterfinal match in a super-tiebreak against German Anna Lena-Groenefeld and Colombian Robert Farah.
Dabrowski-Bopanna were beaten 6-1, 2-6, 8-10 by their opponents. After winning the first set 6-1 in 19 minutes, the Indo-Canadian duo dropped the second set 2-6 in 27 minutes.
In a see-saw battle in the match tie-breaker, Dabrowski-Bopanna blew away a 7-5 lead to go down 8-10, thus bowing out of the event.
With the defeat, Rohan Bopanna's US Open campaign has come to an end.
