The fourth seeds Paes and Hingis defeated second seeds Rohan Bopanna and Yung-Jan Chan 6-2 7-5 in 61 minutes. The loss also ended Bopanna's campaign at the Flushing Meadows. He had earlier suffered a straight sets defeat in the men's doubles quarter-finals. Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea lost 6-7 3-6 to unseeded pair of Dominic Inglot of Great Britain and Sweden's Robert Lindstedt.
Both the teams served four aces each but the Bopanna-Chan combine suffered on the unforced errors count, which was 12 as compared to 9 from Paes and Hingis.
"I thank all the Indians who came here to support me and Martina and also Sania and Martina in the other game," Paes said.
The Indo-Swiss pair will face unseeded Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sam Querrey in the summit clash. (Sania-Martina Reach Women's Doubles Final)
