Paris:
France's Richard Gasquet has pulled out of the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo after injuring his ankle playing football, his coach Riccardo Piatti said on Thursday.
"Unfortunately that's how it is. Richard has pulled out of the tournament. He tried to recover, but it still hurts," Piatti said on his Twitter account.
Gasquet, ranked 17th, pulled out of the Davis Cup quarter-final clash against the United States last weekend with a right shoulder injury.
The French player should have celebrated the tenth anniversary of becoming the youngest player to win a Masters 1000 match in Monte-Carlo aged 15 in 2002.
