Serena Williams, clad in leopard print, leapt past her quarterfinal opponent Flavia Pennetta to reach the semifinal of the US Open.

Serena, who sported a pink leopard print in her previous outing, went for the traditional white and black one for her quarterfinal fixture.

Serena suffered an early deficit in the first set but recovered in no time to claim it 6-3.

Serena walked out to face her opponent Flavia Pennetta with a perfect 5-0 head-to-head record over the Italian.

With each passing serve, Serena's game got far more ruthless as she was marching towards another US Open semifinal spot.

Serena eventually leapt past Pennetta with a simple straight sets victory (6-3, 6-2) to enter the US Open semis.

With 17 Grand Slams in her kitty, Serena Williams will now hope to march forward and claim her 18th, and sixth title at New York's flushing meadows.
