Japan Warriors got off the blocks quicker of the two teams with the mixed doubles pairing of Maria Sharapova and Pierre-Hugues Herbert surprising the seasoned Indian duo of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna in the opening set, winning it 6-5.
Sharapova extended her team's advantage by securing a 6-5 win over Samantha Stosur, giving Warriors a 12-10 lead.
Fabrice Santoro gave the Aces the much-needed impetus, prevailing 6-2 over Russian Marat Safin in the legend's singles.
The men's doubles also went to the Indian team as Bopanna and Gael Monfils defeated local star Kei Nishikori and doubles specialist Herbert 6-5.
Though, Nishikori managed to get the better of Monfils in the men's singles, it was not enough for a win.
