After two successive losses, India came back well to earn a consolation win as they defeated Kazakhstan 2-0 in the Fed Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group I fifth-sixth place play-off match at the True Arena Hua Hin here. (Fed Cup: Sania Mirza, Ankita Raina Help India Outplay Uzbekistan)
In the opening singles match, India's 399th-ranked Prerna Bhambri defeated Galina Voskoboeva 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 on Saturday.
Next up, World No.307 Ankita Raina outclassed Yaroslava Shvedova 7-6(2), 6-0 for India's win.
The third and doubles match between Ankita Raina-Prarthana G. Thombare of India and Yaroslava Shvedova-Galina Voskoboeva was not played as the tie was already decided.
Earlier India lost 1-2 to Japan and 0-3 to Thailand.
In the 3rd-4th place play-off, China defeated Thailand 2-1
