Australia, on the other hand, have their fate hanging by a thread. They are totally dependent on the Afghanistan vs Bangladesh game now that is set to take place on June 25 (IST).

Australia need 29 runs to win off the final over. It seems like an improbable target for them now as India are bowling really well.

Australia need 51 runs in 16 balls and India are right in control of the game. Australia need to win this game to make themselves in strong contention for a semi-final spot. If they lose, it will provide a huge opportunity to Afghanistan.

Given that Australia failed to chase down the target in 15.3 overs, their net run rate now could not get over India's even if they win this game and equal the Rohit Sharma-led side on four points. This means that India have qualified for the semi-finals, irrespective of the result of this game.

Kuldeep Yadav has bowled out Glenn Maxwell and Australia are in trouble now. They need 78 runs in 41 balls. Maxwell walked out of his crease to hit Kuldeep for a biggie but the left-arm spinner beautifully outfoxed him and rattled his stumps. 

Only three singles came off the Axar Patel over. This match hangs in the balance as India are still good in the game. The asking rate for Australia is 11.14. They need 78 runs in 42 balls.

It was turning out to be a really good over from Kuldeep Yadav but Travis Head smashed a six off the final ball to reassert Australia's authority in the game. The ball flew over long-off. A total of 9 runs came off the over.

Travis Head raced to his half-century in 24 balls. He got there with a four and then slammed another one to reach to 54. A total of 12 runs came off the third over of Hardik Pandya. Australia need 107 runs in 60 balls.

A breakthrough for India after a long time. And that is a sensational catch from Axar Patel at deep on the leg side. He timed his jump to perfection to the take the catch well inside the boundary line. Kuldeep Yadav provides India the wicket. Marsh is gone for 37 off 28 balls.

14 runs came off Hardik Pandya's second over. Travis Head slammed a four and a six in the over. Nothing seems to be the troubling the Australian duo of Head and Mitchell Marsh at the moment.  Australia need 123 runs in 72 balls.

Kuldeep Yadav has begun with a four-run over. This will give some relief to India, who failed to find a way to counter the Australian attack. Australia need 137 runs in 78 balls. The asking rate for them is 10.54 from this point.

A superb six from Travis Head and that goes over the long-on. It is the second six of the over bowled by Hardik Pandya. A total of 17 runs came off the over. Australia need 141 runs in 84 balls. They are in the driving seat now as Marsh and Head have stitched 59 runs for the second wicket so far.

14 runs came off Jasprit Bumrah's second over. Australia have scored 28 runs in the last two overs. The duo of Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head are batting really well. They have been getting boundaries quite easily now. Someone needs to stop them or Australia will soon be in the driving seat.

Mitchell Marsh pulls it and pulls it really well for a massive six. 14 runs came off Arshdeep Singh's second over. Australia are slowly and gradually coming back on the track. They need to keep firing like this to stay alive in this chase.

A casual approach from Rishabh Pant while going for the catch of Mitchell Marsh didn't please captain Rohit Sharma and the latter was left fuming. It happened on the fourth ball of Jasprit Bumrah's over.  

An early wicket for India and Arshdeep Singh. David Warner is the one to depart. It was bowled in length and the ball swung away from Warner. The ball took the outside edge of Warner's bat and Suryakumar Yadav took a really good catch at first slip.

India have posted a really good total on the board. This is a tough total for any team to chase down as the conditions are not that batting friendly as Rohit Sharma's 92 off 41 make it look like. Suryakumar Yadav's 31 off 16 also helped India's cause.

That is a good shot from Suryakumar Yadav for a six. It was a slower delivery from Marcus Stoinis with the mid-on inside the ring. SKY read it well and then slammed it over the fielder for a six. He then took a single before Shivam Dube played a dot ball. 13 runs came off the over.

This is poor bowling from Marcus Stoinis. With the mid-off side the circle, he bowled a fuller delivery to Shivam Dube outside off stump. The southpaw drove the ball down the ground for a four.

This is Shivam Dube's power for you! He didn't get it from the middle of his bat yet the ball travelled for an 83-metre six. Adam Zampa gave flight on the ball and Dube smoked it over deep mid-wicket for a biggie. Two runs came on the next ball.

That is the end of Rohit Sharma's entertaining knock. The created room for himself by taking his left foot away from the line of the ball but Mitchell Starc brilliantly bowled a yorker to see Rohit edging the ball that eventually disturbed the stumps. Rohit is gone for 92 off 41 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav also joins the party now as he ends the Pat Cummins over with a four and a six. A total of 13 runs came off the over.

It is only 10 overs in the game and Rohit Sharma is batting on 89 off 37 balls. He is really close to a record-extending 6th T20I century. Currently, both Rohit and Glenn Maxwell hold the top spot with 5 T20I centuries each. 12 runs came off the Marcus Stoinis over.

Dashing Assam batter Riyan Parag on Monday became the first north-eastern cricketer to get an India call-up as a new-look T20 squad led by Shubman Gill was unveiled for next month's five-match series in Zimbabwe which will not feature any of the senior stars.

"It was an off-night for us in the field, and we own that. We'll be back next game. It wasn't an easy wicket but both teams played on this surface. (India next...) First and foremost it becomes clear for us. We need to win and no better team to do it against (India)," said Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh in a very matter of fact way after their loss to Afghanistan.

Team India, who arrived in Saint Lucia on Saturday night, chose not to train ahead of the Australia game considering the hectic travel involved. Given the Indian team is playing its third game within 5 days, it could afford to keep its players off training for a day.

Having logged only 88 runs in six games at a strike rate of 111, Mitchell Marsh needs to lead from the front against India. With the ball, offie Glenn Maxwell needs to check his economy rate of 8.58 runs per over. In terms of match ups, it will be interesting to see how Kohli fares against leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who has had the better of the Indian superstar on multiple occasions. Australia played the extra spinner in Ashton Agar instead of Mitchell Starc against Afghanistan but that could change against India.

Australia have plenty to worry about going into the game. It was a flop batting show against Afghanistan and unusually Mitchell Marsh's team had a forgettable night in the field as well. They need an improved show, especially against a team like India that is still unbeaten in the tournament.

It will only be the second day game at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium. The day nighters have produced high-scores here but in the previous game at the venue, England were not able to chase 164 in a day game against South Africa. It has been the best batting strip of the competition but sun beating down on the pitch through the day is likely to aid the slower bowlers.

Kuldeep Yadav has taken little time to come up with match-wining contributions and he would be relied on for wickets in the middle overs. With the team playing three Super 8 games with as many days of travel in between, the management will be tempted to rotate players but is unlikely to do so.

Both Rohit and Virat Kohli played innings of substance against Afghanistan, while Shivam Dube, who had not been able to perform his role, answered his critics with a crucial knock. Number three Rishabh Pant has been getting dismissed off reverse hit often and it is something he would like to correct. The biggest positive for India in this tournament has been the all-round effort of Hardik Pandya, who has now come to the party with the bat to complement his incisive spells.

On fine-tuning their game ahead of the knockouts, India don't need to do much having ticked all boxes in their back-to-back wins against Afghanistan and Bangladesh. India and South Africa are the only two teams that are unbeaten in the tournament.

Following the reverse against Afghanistan, Australia don't have the destiny in their own hands and will be keenly tracking Rashid Khan's team final game against Bangladesh on Monday night. India, who have had to endure heartbreaking defeats at the hands of Australia in major ICC events, would like to see a pre-mature exit of their strong rivals.

A third straight win for India will not only make them the group toppers and send them to the semifinals, it will also substantially threaten Australia's chances of progressing through to the semi-finals following the unexpected loss to Afghanistan in Saint Vincent on Saturday night. There is no doubt that pressure will be on the Australian team.
