One of Pakistan's greatest squash player, Jansher Khan has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease after he underwent different tests to diagnose a mysterious illness afflicting him since last six months.
Dr Zafar, who is incharge of treating the squash legend for the deadly disease said it was confirmed that Jansher was suffering from Parkinson's disease after the tests. "Yes it is confirmed and we have already started the available treatment for him but unfortunately there is no cure for this disease but with modern treatment we can slow down the degeneration process," he said.
Jansher who ruled the squash world in the 90's winning eight World Open titles and six British open titles was reluctant to speak about his condition.
When contacted, Jansher who now works with the Pakistan squash federation and is also head coach said he was a firm believer that everything happened with God's will and he would continue his life as usual.
He refused to say more but his family members said that the squash player had been stunned on learning about his disease and was pretty depressed for a while but had now accepted the situation and was ready to fight the disease. A family member said that they went to the doctors after Jansher developed signs that included sudden shaking of hands and losing mental stability.
Parkinson's disease is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system and results from the death of dopamine-generating cells in a region of the midbrain.
The cause of cell-death remains a mystery.
Boxing legend, Mohammad Ali also suffers from Parkinson disease and it has notably affected his lifestyle.
