New Delhi:
The Sports Ministry has written to the Archery Association of India, questioning its recently held elections that saw Mr VK Malhotra become President for the 40th year.
The Ministry has asked the archery body why they violated the Sports Code during their elections held last month.
According to the Sports Code, the top officials of sports federations can't be more than 70 years of age, and can't have more than two terms of four years each. That was clearly violated, as VK Malhotra is 80, and is in his 10th term as President.
The Ministry has asked for an explanation as to why the federation shouldn't be de-recognised, and has given them 10 days to respond.
