Hindustan Zinc to sponsor discus thrower Krishna Poonia for two years
Poonia, who was conferred the Arjuna Award in 2010 and Padma Sri Award in 2011, will begin her medal hunt at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

First Indian women to win a gold in the track and field events at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, discus thrower Krishna Poonia will be sponsored by Vedanta's Group Company Hindustan Zinc for two years.
Hindustan Zinc will be sponsoring Poonia for two years as she begins her medal hunt at the 2014 Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea and Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, Scotland.
Poonia, who was conferred the Arjuna Award in 2010 and Padma Sri Award in 2011, will sign the MoU on Thursday in Udaipur, according to a release in New Delhi.
"Vedanta's group company Hindustan Zinc is sponsoring me and I am very happy that corporates like Vedanta are promoting sports persons," said Poonia, who is a two-times Asian Games Medalist at Doha in 2006 and Guangzhou, China in 2010.
Poonia is coached by her husband Virander Poonia, who is also a Dronacharya Awardee.

Hindustan Zinc has been actively involved in sponsoring athletes and in the past also supported sports persons like Bhupendra Vyas, 7 Gold Medals winner of Commonwealth Games in Power-Lifting event, Mala Sukhwal - Gold Medalist in Women Power-Lifting, Bhakti Sharma, Swimming Champion and Jabbar Mohammed, the Volleyball Player.
