Delhi Capitals (164/4) beat Mumbai Indians (162/6) by six wickets in their IPL 2026 match on Saturday in Delhi. Chasing 163, DC lost two early wickets but Pathum Nissanka brought them back into the game with his 44-run knock. Later, Rizvi played a match-winning knock of 90 off 51 balls and helped DC chase down the target with 11 balls remaining. 

OUT!!! AAHH!! This shouldn't have happened as Sameer Rizvi deserved to get a century. Corbin Bosch has provided Mumbai Indians with the wicket of Rizvi for 80. Rizvi mistimed a shot, which landed straight into the hands of Tilak Varma at the long-off. DC now need 12 runs more to win from 22 balls.

Sameer Rizvi is fearlessly dominating the innings with his powerful batting performance. In the previous over of Shardul Thakur, Sameer Rizvi hit two boundaries and a six as the all-rounder leaked 17 runs. Sameer is now inching towards his century.

Sameer Rizvi does it again and this time, Deepak Chahar comes at the receiving end. In the previous over of the pacer, Sameer hit a boundary and a six as Deepak leaks 13 runs. DC now need 42 runs to win from 36 balls.

Mitchell Santner has provided Mumbai Indians with the much-needed breakthrough as he dismissed Pathum Nissanka for 44. It was pushed through a bit quicker, and Pathum Nissanka was late on the shot. At short fine leg, Mayank Markande ran to his right, slid on the ground, and completed a brilliant catch.

He pushed a slower ball around off stump towards mid-wicket and set off for a quick single. His partner also ran, but Rana hesitated midway, which proved costly. Pathum Nissanka was well out of his crease, and Jasprit Bumrah moved quickly to his left, picked up the ball cleanly, and hit the stumps at the bowler’s end in one smooth motion.

With his 35-run knock against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians veteran opener Rohit Sharma has become the current highest run-scorer of IPL 2026. With 113 runs in two matches, Rohit has surpassed Punjab Kings batter Cooper Connolly to take the Orange Cap. Connolly has currently got 108 runs in two matches. 

Mumbai Indians have ended their innings at 162/6 in 20 overs against Delhi Capitals on Saturday. For MI, stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav scored 51, while Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir scored 35 and 28 runs respectively. On the other hand, Mukesh Kumar took two wickets. DC now need 163 runs to win. 

OUT!!! T Natarajan has got his first wicket of the day as he dismissed Naman Dhir for 28. Dhir tried to hit it hard for a boundary but Tristan Stubbs intervened at the boundary line and took a good catch. Sixth wicket gone for Mumbai Indians.

WOAH!! What just happened here? Kuldeep Yadav almost trapped Rohit Sharma with his spin. The ball went towards the left of Rohit and KL Rahul then appealed for a caught behind. The on-field umpire signalled not out but Rohit moved a few steps towards his left, prompting DC to take a DRS review. As Axar took the DRS, the replay then showed that no bat was involved as Rohit was not out. As a result, Rohit survived the call and DC ended up losing the review.

Rohit Sharma is standing like a strong wall for Mumbai Indians. In the previous over of Lungi Ngidi, Rohit hit two brilliant boundaries as the pacer conceded nine runs. A good partnership between Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav.

After losing two back-to-back wickets, Mumbai Indians have gone on the backfoot. Suryakumar Yadav has joined hands with Rohit Sharma at the crease. In the previous over of Axar Patel, the duo scored three runs.

The duo is looking for a solid opening partnership in order to provide MI with some early momentum. On the other hand, Mukesh Kumar will be bowling the first over for Delhi. 

"I think so (regarding the importance of downtime in the IPL), I've been here for many years. It can get quite overwhelming and there's a lot of pressure, travel, expectations, and demands on each player, so downtime is definitely very important. I'm a little bit old school, but I definitely think that adapting to the game and looking to take the bowlers down early is what the guys are doing nowadays," said David Miller before the match.

"We've all seen the change in Rohit Sharma's physical condition. He has clearly worked very hard, and the rewards are visible. His footwork looks quicker, he has more energy, and that gives him more time at the crease. Elegant players often make batting look effortless, but that comes from preparation and hard work," said Sunil Gavaskar.

Former India skipper and Mumbai Indians opener batter Rohit Sharma has started his IPL 2026 campaign with a bang and that has attracted many eyeballs, including the 'Little Master' Sunil Gavaskar, who believes that Sharma's footwork is looking quicker after the change in his physical condition.

New Zealand’s left-arm spin bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner has joined the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Santner, who missed MI’s six-wicket win over three-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, adds depth to the side’s spin bowling attack and also strengthens their lower middle order, giving the Hardik Pandya-led side a huge boost.

"I started playing cricket with tennis balls when I was in 5th or 6th grade. There was no specific place in Baramulla for practice. So we used to play on the road or on a small school ground. I used to watch Dale Steyn a lot when I was young. The way he swung the ball at such high pace inspired me to become a fast bowler and hopefully, play for India one day. I used to get scolded a lot by my father for constantly playing cricket. He wanted me to become a doctor," said Auqib Nabi.

Ahead of the match against Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals pacer Auqib Nabi recounted his humble beginnings, drawing inspiration from Parvez Rasool and Dale Steyn, as well as his emotional auction moment. Nabi also opened up on his childhood and what drove him to become a fast bowler.

Last season, we saw Rohit Sharma being used as an Impact player by MI. This year, the early signs suggest Suryakumar Yadav could be given that role. Will Mumbai use their vice-captain off the bench again, against Delhi? With Rohit now available to guide skipper Hardik in the middle and Suryakumar's recent work load, that might be the case. 

Overlooked, if not forgotten, Shardul Thakur proved in the last match for Mumbai Indians that he can still be trusted with the ball. On a night where Jasprit Bumrah struggled to pick wickets, Shardul did the trick for MI. Against Delhi, the pace-bowling all-rounder's variations are likely to come handy to Mumbai.

Still in pursuit of their elusive maiden IPL title, Delhi Capitals will be eager to see greater stability at the top. They have the option of turning to either Abishek Porel, who displayed flashes of brilliance last season, or the mercurial Prithvi Shaw who struggles with consistency.

Rohit Sharma turned back the clock scoring a fiery 78, marking his return to T20 cricket in emphatic fashion. Fellow opener Ryan Rickelton, who was picked ahead of the more experienced Quinton de Kock, provided solid support with a belligerent 81 and is likely to keep his place.

Mumbai Indians will enter the contest brimming with confidence after snapping a 14-year opening-match jinx with a record chase against Kolkata Knight Riders. In the chase of 221, MI chased down the target in 19.1 overs, registering their first opening game win after 14 years. 

Mumbai Indians' veteran opener Rohit Sharma has currently scored 1057 runs against Delhi Capitals, which is the second highest by an individual against Delhi. He needs 73 runs more to surpass Virat Kohli to become the highest run-scorer against DC. Kohli is currently at the top with 1130 runs. 

Chasing a modest 142 against Lucknow Super Giants in their opener, the Capitals' top order crumbled swiftly, with KL Rahul falling for a first-ball duck and Nitish Rana and Pathum Nissanka too departing in quick succession to leave the side tottering at 26 for four. What followed, however, was a display of composure and maturity by 22-year-old impact substitute Sameer Rizvi, who struck an unbeaten half-century. Combining with the experienced Tristan Stubbs, the duo scripted a six-wicket victory with an unbroken stand that rescued DC.

The spotlight will firmly be on Delhi Capitals' top order when they square off against a confident Mumbai Indians in their first home fixture of the IPL 2026 season on Saturday.
