Former England player and FC Pune City coach David Platt today said their 1-4 rout by defending champions Atletico de Kolkata did not reflect their actual performance in the Indian Super League football tournament. (Iain Hume Hat-trick Sinks FC Pune City)
ATK rode on Iain Hume's hattirck to defeat Pune City FC 4-1 and the first goal was scored from a seemingly offside position but referee Dilan Perera adjudged the goal valid, fuelling a controversy.
"Somebody asked me whether it was an offisde? But it's irrelevant now. It was given a goal and probably the video footage will show what it is. But when we got 0-1 down it's little difficult to come back," the Englishman said.
"I don't think the scoreline reflect our performance. After being 0-1 down, we played our way back into game, we started to create chances and dominate the possession, we hit the post thrice. But it becomes a mountain to climb once they were 0-2 up."
Pune City FC have two more matches to go and Platt said they're still in line for a last-four berth.
"It's very difficult now. But we can't rest too much on the game. We have two games left and we got an opportunity to win both the games."
