Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by five wickets with a ball to spare in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Monday. After restricting Bangalore to 162/8, Mumbai looked to be coasting to an easy win with Jos Buttler and Nitish Rana going all guns blazing. However, Bangalore had other plans. They first got rid of Parthiv Patel in the very first delivery for a duck and then followed up with quick wickets of Buttler and Rana. But it was captain Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 56 that guided Mumbai to a win. Not only did he hit his 31st IPL half century, he also hit a four off the second last ball to keep the winning momentum for Mumbai and help the team go top of the points table.

However, skipper Rohit Sharma came out with a positive mindset today. He didn't take any risk and paced his innings to perfection. He stayed till the end with a blistering and a much-needed half century and more importantly, managed to take his team over the line. Bangalore's woes continues to extend and they have been officially eliminated from this season. They gave a good fight in this one but as Kohli says it's the intent that matters. Negi did well in both departments as first he hit a few with the bat to take them to a competitive target and then with the ball he finished with figures of 4-0-17-2! Stay tuned for the presentation...

Mumbai make it 2 out of 2 against Bangalore this year and with this win, they move to the top of the points table as well. Chasing 163, they lost Parthiv Patel on the very first ball but Buttler and Rana took the game forward. Both of them took their chances in the Powerplay and released a lot of pressure. Their 61-run stand was broken by Pawan Negi as he showed Buttler the way to the pavilion. Rana too was removed by him soon and the game was in the balance at that moment.
