Rangers end Devils nine-game win streak
Rangers snapped the New Jersey Devils' nine-game winning streak in the New York Rangers' 1-0 National Hockey League victory on Sunday.

New York moved the puck in the New Jersey zone, and Shanahan scored off a pass from Scott Gomez in the slot, beating Brodeur with the only shot in the extra session.
Henrik Lundqvist made 17 saves for his fifth shutout of the season. The Rangers snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 4-0 against the Devils this season.
Red Wings 5, Hurricanes 2
In Detroit, Andreas Lilja's second-period goal broke a tie and NHL-leading Detroit won its sixth-straight game.
Valtteri Filppula, Johan Franzen, Pavel Datsyuk, and Tomas Holmstrom also scored for the Red Wings. Jiri Hudler had three assists and Dominik Hasek made 15 saves.
Erik Cole scored both of Carolina's goals and Cam Ward stopped 31 shots.
Lilja beat Ward with a slap shot from the left point with 7:20 left in the second period. It was Lilja's second goal of the season.
Avalanche 9, Blues 5
At Denver, Milan Hejduk notched his fifth-career hat trick and added three assists and Colorado had the highest-scoring game in the league so far this season.
Paul Stastny had two goals and three assists, Ryan Smyth had a goal and two assists and Wojtek Wolski had two goals for the Avalanche, who won the 1,000th game in franchise history.
Colorado's nine goals were the most in a game since January 4, 2007, when Toronto beat Boston 10-2 and San Jose beat Detroit 9-4.
Jay McClement scored two goals for the Blues, and Lee Stempniak had a goal and an assist. St Louis goalie Hannu Toivonen gave up eight goals on 25 shots.

At Chicago, defenseman Cory Sarich's goal with 8:41 left snapped a 1-1 tie, and Calgary handed Chicago its season-high fourth straight loss.
Calgary also got goals from Owen Nolan and Daymond Langkow, who scored on a power play. Miikka Kiprusoff had 35 saves, including several close-in stops.
Robert Lang and Dustin Byfuglien scored for the Blackhawks, and Nikolai Khabibulin blocked 26 shots.
