That's that! India have stunned world No.4 Belgium 4-2 in the quarters to set up semifinal clash against Pakistan, who defeated the Netherlands by the same margin earlier in the day. In the other two quarterfinals, Germany defeated England; Australia also made it to the SF with a 4-2 win over Argentina.

Buoyant India Ready to Face Belgium
Having registered a confidence-building victory over the Netherlands in their final pool assignment, India will be eyeing a smooth passage into the semi-finals when they take on Belgium in the last eight stage of the hockey Champions Trophy on Thursday. The 3-2 victory over world cup silver medallists Netherlands at the Kalinga stadium on Tuesday, the first in 18 years, boosted the morale of the Indian team which had faltered in their first two Pool B matches, losing 0-1 against Olympic champions Germany and 2-4 against World Cup bronze medallists Argentina.

India Beat Netherlands for First Time in 18 Years
An inspired India registered their first win over the Netherlands in 18 years when they stunned the World Cup and Olympic silver medallists 3-2 in a high-voltage encounter to finish third in Pool B. The win not only broke India's two match losing streak, but also helped the Sardar Singh and Co break their 18-year jinx against the mighty Dutch. India last defeated the Netherlands way back in 1996 in an Olympic qualifying tournament in Barcelona. (Full Report)
India Defender Birendra Lakra Doubtful for Belgium Clash
Senior Indian defender Birendra Lakra is a doubtful starter in Thursday's crucial quarterfinal clash against fourth-ranked Belgium as he is yet to recover from his back injury, said India's High Performance Director Roelant Oltmans. Lakra, who experienced the problem after India's 2-4 defeat against Argentina match, has also missed the their last last Pool B match against the Netherlands, which the home team won 3-2 to register their first win over the Dutch in 18 years. Nobody Expected India to Win Against Holland, Says Roelant Oltmans
His native country ended up on the losing side on Tuesday, but India's high performance director Roelant Oltmans was a relieved man after the hosts stunned the Netherlands 3-2in a Pool B match of the Champions Trophy hockey tournament. He said what went in India's favour was that "nobody expected" them to win against the mighty Netherlands and that too after back-to-back defeats in the tournament. (Full Story)
