Turnberry, Scotland:
On a day for going low, Tiger Woods struggled to 1-over 71 in the opening round of the British Open.
Woods hit one wayward shot after another Thursday and finished six strokes behind the surprising clubhouse leader, 59-year-old Tom Watson, who posted his best Open score since 1994.
Meanwhile, the world's top-ranked player continually flipped away his clubs in anger, hardly looking as though he's ready to challenge for his 15th major championship.
Woods' score was especially disappointing in the perfect scoring conditions at Turnberry: partly sunny, no rain and barely the hint of a breeze off the Irish Sea.
