Teams gear up for Ryder Cup

Detroit, Michigan:

The European Ryder Cup team arrived at the Oakland Hills Country Club at Bloomfield Hills, Michigan on Tuesday to give the course its first workout before the three-day event begins on Friday. Europe will of course look to retain the Ryder Cup trophy it won the last time Europe and the USA got together on the links. The Americans will field four of the world's top 10 players to Europe's one heading into the bi-yearly event. Players on the European team believe the American fans will be civil to them. Of course, they know fans will be solidly behind the USA side, and that home course advantage will make the challenge more difficult for Europe. (AP)
