Newport, Wales:
On the back of a record-breaking second round 61, the little-known Simon Khan stormed into the lead at the halfway stage of the Wales Open. During Friday's early play from the Celtic Manor Resort, the Englishman became only the fourth man in European Tour history to shoot 27 over nine holes. Khan led at the end of the day by two strokes from compatriot Paul Casey. And Colin Montgomerie is lurking a further three strokes back, positioned on a nine-under-par 135 alongside Paul Lawrie. (AP)
