Shubham Jaglan - India's Answer to Tiger Woods?
Ten-year old golfer Shubham Jaglan created history for India winning 2 world junior titles in 2 weeks after he won the World Stars of Junior Golf in Las Vegas on Friday. Shubham Jaglan though is not a new name for NDTV. We were first to feature the golf prodigy in 2012 and have been following him right through, every step of the way.

From playing in the sugarcane fields of Israna village to double world junior golf champion, 10-year old Shubham Jaglan's story has been nothing short of incredible and inspiring.
The Golf prodigy won his 2nd world title in 2 weeks, winning the International Junior Golf Academy World Stars event in Las Vegas by a whopping 5 shots. Certainly a bumper month for Shubham who also won the IMG Junior World Championship in San Diego last Friday.
Speaking exclusively after his win, Shubham thanked NDTV saying, "NDTV was the first to travel to my village Israna 3 years back and it is thanks to NDTV that the world has got to know about me and my life has changed since then".
These three years have been a game changer for Shubham. He was taken under the wing of The Golf Foundation, who helped relocate the family to New Delhi so that he could pursue the sport. The Foundation helped him with training, equipment and tournament exposure. Under coach Nonita Lall Qureshi, he has won over a 100 junior events and that number is just increasing every week.
What's more, Shubham was also the recipient of NDTV's Marks for Sports Award for his remarkable against the odds story. Something that helped him get admission into the Laxman Public School. His school to has played a big role in his success, Shubham admitted "My school has helped me tremendously with my English, I feel confident when I play tournaments and I am reach out to everyone easily because of this."
Contrast this to Shubham as a 7-year old village boy who learnt his golf watching YouTube videos and then practicing those lessons in Israna's sugarcane fields. A milkman's son, His father Jagpal has since dedicated his entire life to golf, traveling with Shubham for every tournament he plays in.
Shubham was shy to admit to us earlier, "When people see me play and get to know that I learnt my golf playing in the fields, they can't believe it. I've been often called Israna's Tiger Woods or the Dara Singh of Golf".
Shubham is playing his final event in USA next week in Atlanta. If he does manage a hat-trick of wins, he will complete what many are calling the grand slam of world junior golf titles. A feat similar to that achieved by Tiger Woods during his junior days in the mid-80s.
And while comparisons to Tiger Woods at this stage maybe far-fetched, one can't deny that Shubham Jaglan is well on his way to becoming a future Superstar in World Golf.
