Legendary golfer Tiger Woods teed off amid much fanfare during an exhibition match at a rather hushed-up private event here at the Delhi Golf Club (DGC), on Tuesday.
Dressed in a blue tee-shirt, black trousers and white cap, Tiger started off with a wonderful shot straight down the middle, while his second shot landed on the green.
World No. 1 missed an eagle putt but birdied the par 5 hole. In the second hole, Tiger landed a shot just four feet away from the pin to miss it by a whisker. (Also see pics: How DGC geared up to welcome Tiger Woods)
Tiger is being brought to India by Hero MotoCorp, whose CEO and Managing Director, Pawan Munjal is a known golf supporter and player.
He is supposed to play a few holes with Munjal and some of his guests.
Before Tiger started off with his lucrative exhibition round, TV presenter Alan Wilkins asked the veteran golfer if he was nervous, and he joked: "Ya, I am nervous."
The President of Indian Indian Golf Union, meanwhile, presented Tiger with a memento as a token for his first visit to India.
More than 2000 people were present at the golf course to get a glimpse of the World No. 1 golfer.
Cricketers in Madal Lal and Murali Karthik were also among the invitees.
World Sport Group had negotiated with Tiger's management to arrange for his visit to the country.
