Garrido wins Volvo Championship

Ignacio Garrido of Spain beat South Africa's Trevor Immelman to win the Volvo PGA Championship on Sunday.

Virginia Water, England: Ignacio Garrido of Spain beat South Africa's Trevor Immelman with a birdie on the first hole of a sudden death playoff to win the Volvo PGA Championship on Sunday. Immelman three-putted from 60 feet, missing a second putt of five feet to leave Garrido with a two-footer for victory. The 31-year-old Spaniard shot a final round of 65, seven under par, to catch overnight leader Immelmann, who returned a 68. They finished with 18-under-par totals of 270. Mathias Gronberg of Sweden carded his third successive 67 to finish third on 273, three strokes behind. World number two Ernie Els could only manage a round of 69 with three birdies and no dropped shots and finished in 4th place four strokes off the winning total. (AP)
