Tiger Woods has shot one of his worst rounds at the British Open, a 5-over 77 that nearly cost him a chance to play this weekend.
Woods has failed to make the cut at a major only three times in his professional career, most recently at the 2011 PGA Championship. He was in danger again after a triple-bogey at the 17th hole pushed his score to 3 over for the tournament - outside the projected cut.
But Woods rallied with his first birdie of the day at the final hole, hitting a delicate chip over a bunker to set up a 6-foot putt. He rolled that one in, though there's little chance of him challenging for his 15th major title. He is 13 shots behind leader Rory McIlroy.
