Manama:
Michael Schumacher's hopes at Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix took another blow when he was hit with a five-place grid penalty ahead of the start of the race.
The German's Mercedes team confirmed the gearbox has been changed on the 43-year-old's car, demoting the seven-times world champion from 17th to 22nd.
The move compounds Schumacher's woes after he failed to make it out of Saturday's opening 20-minute qualifying session due to a failure with the DRS (drag reduction system).
