Jenson Button may be preparing to take an even bigger role in the Mercedes team after teammate Lewis Hamilton's exit. Hamilton though is not ready to rule out the possibility of his return to the team in the future.
Having raced in a McLaren since 2007, Hamilton will replace Michael Schumacher in the Mercedes AMG team for the F1 2013 season. The 27-year-old however said that McLaren will always be like home to him. "You can never say never. I've had a great time and I think it will always be my home. I'll always look at it as where I've come from and going back there would be nice one day," he was quoted as saying in a report published in The Sun.
Hamilton finished the 2012 season in the fourth position with 190 points and 4 wins. While McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh has previously been quoted as saying that Hamilton will regret leaving the team, the 27-year-old said that he thinks the move is a good decision. "I'm really, really happy about it (decision to move out). You can't live with regrets in your life. You have to make a decision and stick with it. Whether it's right or wrong, you just have to make the most of it, stick to your guns and hope you can turn it around or turn it into a positive."
Sergio Perez will replace Hamilton for McLaren.
