Zidane nominated for Golden Ball

Zinedine Zidane has been named in the list of nominees for FIFA's prestigious Golden Ball award, given to the most valuable player at the 2006 World Cup.

Zinedine Zidane has been named in the list of nominees for FIFA's prestigious Golden Ball award, given to the most valuable player at the 2006 World Cup. Zidan'e compatriots Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieiera are on the 10-man list including four Italians - Fabio Cannavaro, Andrea Pirlo, Gianluca Zambrotta and Gianluigi Buffon. Germanya€™s Michael Ballack and Miroslav Klose and Portugal's Maniche round off the list. German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn won the award at the last World Cup in 2002. FIFA will announce the winner on Monday after the finals on Sunday.
