The wife of Zenit St Petersburg and Russian international goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeyev has died in a car crash, local news reports said on Thursday.
Marina Malafeyeva lost control of her Bentley coupe, ran into a snowdrift and flew almost 150 metres, knocking down a billboard before crashing into a tree, the reports said.
Malafeyeva, who worked as a producer for the pop group M-16, died immediately, while the group's lead vocalist Dmitry Rybakov, who was sitting beside her, was rushed to a local hospital.
Zenit's management said that Malafeyev will not play in Thursday's Europa League round of 16 second-leg match against the Dutch side FC Twente, with Belarus international keeper Yury Zhevnov set to take his place.
The club also said Zenit's players will play the match with black armbands in memory of the goalkeeper's wife.
The Sovietsky Sport daily reported that Zenit had informed UEFA about the accident and said European football's ruling body was considering a possible postponement of the match.
Zenit lost the first leg 3-0 in Enschede.
