Valencia prepares for new season

Valencia, Spain:

Spanish League Champions and UEFA Cup winners, Valencia will be looking forward to the new season with a new man in charge. Claudio Ranieri was all smiles at Valencia's training ground on the outskirts of the city. He was back amongst friends and in familiar surroundings. Ranieri spent two seasons with Valencia from 1997-98, an appointment the club has always said was one of their most astute. Ranieri is regarded by many as the coach who put Valencia back on the map. He won the Spanish Cup in 1998 and took them into the Champions League for the first time ever. Hector Cuper and Rafael Benitez continued the good work started by Ranieri. Valencia are now a recognised force at home and in Europe. (AP)
