Uganda rallied to beat World Cup-bound Ecuador 2-1 in the consolation game at the LG Cup on Thursday.

Geoffrey Massa and Martin Mwanga scored six minutes apart early in the second half and Uganda rallied to beat World Cup-bound Ecuador 2-1 in the consolation game at the LG Cup on Thursday. Host Egypt faced Senegal in the final of the $100,000, four-team event later Thursday. The loss was the second in three days for the Ecuadoreans, headed to their second straight World Cup in June. Ivan Kaviedes put the South Americans ahead in the second minute, but Massa equalized with a header off a corner in the 48th and Mwanga scored the winner with another header from a corner in the 54th. Begun in 1997 and staged mostly throughout Asia and Africa, this year's LG Cup is a dress rehearsal for the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt Jan. 20-Feb. 10. Egypt and Senegal have qualified for the 16-team Africa Cup. (AP)
