Francesco Totti plans to return to Italy's national soccer team in September.

Rome:

Francesco Totti plans to return to Italy's national soccer team in September. The AS Roma captain has not played for Italy since it won the World Cup in July, choosing to focus on his play for AS Roma and regain fitness in his surgically repaired left leg. "Francesco Totti will be available again for the national team in September," the Italian soccer federation said Monday in a statement. The statement said the 30-year-old player has talked with Italy coach Roberto Donadoni and federation officials over the past days. It said Donadoni and Totti agreed to continue evaluating the situation together "in the spirit of full cooperation," aiming to see Totti on the field in early September, when Italy plays France and Ukraine in European Championship qualifying games. Totti currently leads the Serie A with 18 goals.
