Seoul:
South Korea's footballers have achieved instant stardom with their team reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup. Their Dutch coach Guus Hiddink has now become a super celebrity.
Hiddink made history as the first coach to lead two separate teams to the World Cup semi-finals, first with Holland and then with South Korea.
In Hiddink's home town, the remote village of Varsseveld, locals have been eagerly following the progress of their favourite son.
A resident of Varsseveld remarked, "I was born here in Varsseveld. I'm very proud of Guus that he has a success out in South Korea and we hope that he will get the lads to the final."
"It's great and a lot of people are coming over here, it's little spot on the map Varsseveld and now a lot of people know it," exclaimed another.
Whether South Korea wins or loses in the semis, Hiddink has already made his name. He was hired on a contract of $1 million and has already been honoured with a villa called Hiddink house and four years of free air travel on Korean Air.
