Davide Brivio's free kick seemed enough to inflict a first defeat on Roma, but Strootman pounced at the death.

Roma is a point below Juventus, which hosts Udinese later, and two above Napoli, which visits Lazio on Monday.

Elsewhere, Cagliari came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Sassuolo and Chievo Verona beat Livorno 3-0.
