Buenos Aires:
San Lorenzo's Alberto Acosta, playing in his last professional match, scored the 300th goal of an illustrious career on Saturday as his side beat Velez Sarsfield 4-1 in Argentina's Apertura competition.
The 37 year-old former international striker converted a 75th minute penalty to put the icing on the Crows' 11th win of the season and guaranteed San Lorenzo second place in the standings behind champions Boca Juniors.
Acosta will also finish top goalscorer of the competition if things go his way in next week's final matches.
Acosta was given a standing ovation as he left the field as a substitute, and another at the end of the 4-1 victory.
It was almost immaterial that San Lorenzo had guaranteed themselves second place in the league. (AP)
