Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos admitted he will almost certainly miss Spain's friendly with England on Friday after suffering the recurrence of a shoulder problem in Madrid's 3-2 defeat at Sevilla on Sunday. (Real Madrid Suffer First Loss of Season to Sevilla)
Ramos opened the scoring in spectacular fashion at the Sanchez Pizjuan with an overhead kick, but in doing so landed awkwardly on his left shoulder. (Latest Football News)
The Spanish international dislocated the same shoulder in a 4-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk nearly two months ago and has only be used in Madrid's toughest fixtures ever since by coach Rafael Benitez.
"First I have to recover. I hope to have a scan on Tuesday, but it will be difficult to go with the national team if I couldn't continue today," he told Canal Plus.
"The priority is to recover because it is another relapse. I have played four or five games with injections and this is the type of injury that if you are not careful can cause a lot more problems."
After hosting England in Alicante, Spain travel to face Belgium in a friendly in Brussels four days later.
