Gelsenkirchen:

Schalke has signed Brazil under-20 international defender Rafinha from Coritiba. The 19-year-old cost an estimated $6.1 million and signed a four-year contract. "We watched him several times. He played so well that we decided he was worth it,'' said Schalke general manager Rudi Assauer on Monday. Schalke finished runner-up to Bayern Munich last season and Rafinha became the club's fifth new signing. Bayern and Schalke are among five teams that have started the Bundesliga season with two victories. (AP)
