Palmeiras defeat Ituano 1-0

Palmeiras went up to joint third in the Brazilian Paulista (Sao Paulo) championship group two standings with a 1-0 victory against Ituano on Wednesday.

Midfielder Elson was the hero for Palmeiras on Wednesday night as his 15th-minute strike lifted Palmeiras up to joint third in the 2004 Brazilian Paulista (Sao Paulo) championship group two standings. The goal was enough to seal a one-nil victory away to Ituano and the three points on offer at the Novelli Junior stadium in Itu City. Palmeiras now have six points from three games while their opponents drop to seventh place with three points from three games. (AP)
