Buenos Aires:
The head of the Copa America organising committee says Monumental Stadium will be repaired in time to host the July 24 final after having been ransacked last month by River Plate hooligans following the team's relegation.
Organising committee chief Jose Luis Meiszner said on Wednesday that the stadium would be ready, going back on his view a day earlier that the stadium was in doubt as it wasn't in condition "for an event of this magnitude."
Hooligans tore up 4,000 stadium seats and wrecked toilet areas after the June 26 match when River Plate was demoted to Argentina's second division.
