Manchester United winger Nani could reportedly be out of action for a month after suffering a deep gash in his right calf, following a tackle by Jamie Carragher in the Premier League game against Liverpool on Sunday.
Nani will now miss United's sixth-round FA Cup tie against Arsenal on Saturday. United and Nani were so furious with the challenge that Carragher who came to apologise for his action, was refused entry to United's dressing room.
Following the tackle, Nani had to be stretchered off the field while Carragher was handed only a yellow card. The Liverpool defender will however, not face any retrospective action because referee Phil Dowd has stood by his original decision to dispense only a yellow card.
No one from United has publicly commented on the issue as manager Sir Alex Ferguson has imposed a media blackout. This step has probably been taken keeping in mind the trouble he is in for lashing out at Martin Atkinson's refereeing in United's game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, that his side lost 2-1. Fergie is facing improper conduct charges for his comments on Atkinson.
