JCT too good for Mahindra United
JCT Phagwara defeat local outfit Mahindra United 2-1 in the seventh Oil PSU National Football League.

JCT Phagwara scored once in each half to defeat local outfit Mahindra United 2-1 in the seventh Oil PSU National Football League at the Cooperage here today.
With this win, JCT have 21 points from 14 games while Mahindra are struggling on 13 points from 14 matches. It was the local outfit which surged forward when in the 26th minute striker Samson Aby Mongba's 30 yard kick was bang on target.
JCT then found the equaliser in the 42nd minute when their medio Hardeep Singh booted home a poor clearance from Mahindra defender Tapan Ghosh following a flag kick.
Two minutes after half time, JCT winger K Yeboah scored the all important goal following a throw-in from the left flank.
Earlier, the local team went on the attack when in the fifth minute of the match their winger Odartey Lawson's shot went over the bar.
In the 35th minute of the match JCT striker Hardeep Gill shot over after getting the ball from Mahindra's Peter Siddiqui. Soon after Samson's lob sailed over an advancing JCT custodian Mansurv Mohammed.
Five minutes later, Mahindra winger Lawson's pile drive was well saved by Mohammed. Soon after JCT defender Musa Aliu's long range shot was punched over by Mahindra custodian S Ranaj resulting in a corner. (PTI)
