Ivory Coast set for World Cup

Ivory Coast qualified for the 2006 World Cup by winning African Group 3 in dramatic fashion.

Ivory Coast qualified for the 2006 World Cup by winning African Group 3 in dramatic fashion and are believed to be the African team with the best chance of repeating Senegal's quarterfinal performance of 2002. Their coach, Henri Michel, guided France to the semi-finals of the 1986 World Cup, and is hoping to do as well with his new team this time around. The Frenchman is hoping Ivory Coast will be drawn in a decent group for the start of the 2006 tournament, even if they end up facing favourites Brazil. (AP)
