Esteban Cambiasso, Ivan Ramiro Cordoba and Luis Figo scored a goal each Saturday, and Inter Milan beat Palermo 3-0 at San Siro to move within five points of Serie A leader Juventus. Juventus, the defending league champion, can restore its eight-point lead if it beats underdog Empoli on Sunday. Inter, which won for the 15th time this season and has 48 points, stretched its unbeaten streak to 12 matches. Juventus leads Juventus leads with 53 points, and third-place AC Milan, which is at Siena on Sunday, has 43. Cambiasso scored the first goal in the 33rd minute with a short-range header off a corner kick for his fifth goal of this season. Palermo nearly scored the equalizer in the 53rd when a long distance drive by midfielder Simone Barone struck the post and went out. After taking another risk in the 73rd with Juan Sebastian Veron clearing a header from Massimo Mutarelli, Inter returned on the attack and Cordoba made 2-0 in the 76th. The Colombia international deflected the ball off a corner and Palermo defender Christian Terlizzi gave it the final touch as it was crossing the line. Figo, who joined Inter from Real Madrid in the off season, sealed the victory four minutes later with a free kick. Palermo has 26 points in 10th place ahead of Sunday's matches. Lazio held by Cagliari Also Saturday, nine-man Lazio was held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Cagliari and stretched its unbeaten streak to six matches. Veteran forward Paolo Di Canio put Lazio in the lead in the 36th minute at Stadio Olimpico by heading in a long cross from Massimo Oddo. Midfielder Massimo Gobbi kicked in Cagliari's equalizer in the 69th. Lazio lost its first player in the 41st when defender Sebastiano Siviglia was ejected for overreacting to a foul by Nelson Abejon. Lazio captain Fabio Liverani, who had struck the crossbar with a curling drive in the first half, then received a red card in the 79th for elbowing an opponent. Minutes earlier, the referee had disallowed a goal by Lazio Emilson Cribari for a dubious offside. Cagliari, coming off a surprise 1-0 win at Siena on Wednesday, was denied a victory by goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi, who saved a scoring attempt by David Suazo and a close-range header by Michele Canini in the closing minutes. The draw left Lazio in the upper half of the standings with 30 points, while Cagliari has 19. On Sunday, fourth-place Fiorentina hosts Messina, Livorno takes on last-place Treviso, Sampdoria is at Reggina, AS Roma is at Udinese, Ascoli hosts Lecce and Parma takes on Chievo Verona.
