Rawalpindi:
India beat hosts Pakistan 1-0 in the football match of the ninth South Asian Federation (SAF) games today.
Debrata Roy scored the only goal of the match in the 71st minute on a penalty hit, guiding his team to victory at the Army Stadium.
India had at least four goal scoring chances in the match but the hosts concentrated mostly in clearing the ball at any cost, which resulted in the match turning out to be rather rough.
The hosts committed a lot of fouls in the bargain.
India held the edge in the first half with medios Roy, Gourmangi, Marlanki working in tandem with frontliners Jerry Zirsaga, Malsawm Tluanga and Malsawma.
In the later session, though India missed two difficult chances, it had a well-organised attack and all their moves emanated from the left wing.
India now has four points from two matches while Pakistan has three.
Bangladesh, who was held to draw by both India and Afghanistan in earlier matches, is at two points and will next clash with Pakistan. (PTI)
