United SC shot themselves to the top three after a 4-1 thrashing of Pailan Arrows in a round 24 I-League fixture at the Kalyani Stadium in Kolkata on Friday.
Kayne Vincent scored twice (45th and 55th), while Ranty Martins (22nd) and Mohammad Rafique (58th) struck once each to help United SC return to winning ways.
The AIFF developmental outfit pulled one back in the dying minutes when Pronay Halder converted a spotkick (90th).
High on confidence after their 2-0 upset win over defending champions Dempo in the previous round, Arrows started on an aggressive note, but United drew the first blood when Ranty found the target from a goalmouth melee.
United pressed and got rewarded in the first-half injury time when Vincent scored off an angular shot from a Rafique pass.
On a roll, United trebled the lead when Vincent hit the target for the second time with a shot taken on the half-turn after Dhanchandra Singh set him up with a pass from the left.
Vincent fed Rafique for 4-0 as the latter found the back of the net with a powerful angular shot.
Arrows pulled one back in the dying moments of the action when Halder scored from the spot as the team earned a penalty in the 90+8 minutes of the added time.
