One of the deciding factors in the match came when Mexican striker Cuauht?moc Blanco, who scored their only goal, was given a red card in the 49th minute after elbowing Jorge Samuel Caballeros.
The red card will force Blanco to miss Mexico's next match against Panama on Wednesday.
