Athletic Bilbao says Spain striker Fernando Llorente does not want to renew his contract with the northern club.
Bilbao President Josu Urrutia said Monday that Llorente had informed the club of his decision several days ago.
The player's contract with the club expires in June 2013.
Urrutia described Llorente's decision as a blow for the club. He said he was not aware of any team having made an offer to buy the player.
Llorente, 27, has been with Bilbao for 17 years. He was part of the Spanish side that recently won the Euro Championship.
