Zagreb, Croatia:
Croatia striker Dado Prso has retired from international soccer.
"I've decided - it's over," Prso said from Glasgow, Scotland. "I'm 32, my knee is in bad shape, and the end of my soccer career is near."
Prso, who first played for Croatia in 2003, says he will continue playing with Scottish club Rangers at least until his contract expires at the end of this upcoming season.
"Then I'll sit down with my family and see what is best for me to do," he added.
Prso said Croatia's poor performance at the World Cup in Germany "was the biggest disappointment in my life".
"I wanted to say goodbye to the team with style, not that way," Prso said, referring to the team being knocked out at the group stage.
Prso, who scored nine goals in 28 matches for Croatia, failed to find the net at the World Cup. But Croatia national federation head Vlatko Markovic traveled to Glasgow to try and persuade him to stay. (AP)
